On Sunday, 11 October, Veda Nāda presents Mantra Mādhurya, a concert by the sisters S. Aishwarya and S. Saundarya. The evening marks the launch of the World's First Women Recited Vedic Album.

The sisters are great-granddaughters of M. S. Subbulakshmi and granddaughters of Radha Viswanathan, a family whose voices have carried Carnatic music and Sanskrit hymns to listeners for generations. In 2017 they sang the benediction Maithreem Bhajatha at the Prime Minister's residence.

Why it matters

Vedic recitation has long been heard in a small number of voices. An album recited by women, launched on a concert stage in Bengaluru, invites a much wider audience to listen, and Veda Nāda has spent five years building exactly that audience.
